FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about web design, SEO, and building a site that works for your business.
🟣 General Web Design & Process
What does a web designer actually do?
Think of me as your website’s architect and interior designer rolled into one. I plan how your site should look, feel, and function, making sure it reflects your brand and speaks to your customers. From layout to colours, fonts, and user flow, I turn your ideas into a site that works.
What’s the difference between web design and web development?
Great question! Web design is the creative side – how your site looks and feels. Development is the technical side – how everything works behind the scenes. I handle both so you don’t need to juggle multiple people.
What types of websites can you build?
Pretty much anything! From simple brochure-style sites for small businesses, to blogs, e-commerce shops, membership sites, or personal brands. If you have an idea, I’ll help bring it online.
💛 Pricing & Timelines
How much does a website cost?
It depends on what you need. A simple site for a small business might start around AUD $3,000–$5,000. Bigger projects (e-commerce, advanced features) can cost more. I’ll always give you a tailored quote so you know exactly what’s included.
How long will it take?
On average, a new website takes 8–12 weeks from start to launch. The biggest factor is how quickly we can gather your content (text, images, etc.). If you’re organised, we can move even faster.
🔵 WordPress & CMS
Do you only use WordPress? Why?
Yes, because it’s powerful, flexible, and user-friendly. WordPress powers over 40% of all websites worldwide, which means it’s trusted, secure, and future-proof. Plus, it makes it easy for you to update your site yourself—no need to call me every time you want to change a word.
What is a CMS and do I need one?
CMS stands for “Content Management System.” It’s basically the dashboard where you log in to add blog posts, update pages, or swap out images. If you want control over your site (and you should!), then yes – you need one. WordPress is the CMS I recommend.
🟢 SEO & Visibility
Will my website be set up for SEO?
Absolutely. Every site I build comes with SEO foundations baked in – fast loading, mobile-friendly, clean code, and keyword-ready structure. I also install Rank Math so you can easily manage titles, meta descriptions, and schema. From day one, your site will be Google-friendly.
What is FAQ Schema and why does it matter?
FAQ Schema is like giving Google a “cheat sheet” about your content. When we add it to your FAQs, search engines can show your questions and answers directly in search results -helping you stand out and get more clicks.
🟡 Mobile & Responsive Design
Is my site going to look good on mobile?
Yes – 100%. Every site I build is responsive, meaning it automatically adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops. Since more than half of people browse on their phone first, I always design with mobile in mind.
What does mobile-first design mean?
It means I start by designing your site for mobile screens, then scale it up for bigger screens. This ensures your site looks great and loads fast no matter what device your customers use.
🔴 Maintenance & Updates
What support do you offer after launch?
I don’t just hand over the keys and disappear. I offer maintenance plans to keep your site safe, secure, and up-to-date. This includes plugin updates, security monitoring, and backups – so you can focus on running your business.
Can you update my old website instead of building a new one?
In many cases, yes! If your current site just needs a refresh, I can update design, improve SEO, or fix performance issues. But if the foundations are outdated or insecure, a rebuild might be the better long-term option.
⚫ Hosting, Platform & Location
What platform will my website be built on?
WordPress (hosted on your own domain). It’s reliable, scalable, and widely supported. I’ll guide you through hosting options that balance performance and price.
Do I need to be local to work with you?
Not at all! While I love working with Sydney and Parramatta businesses face-to-face, I also work with clients across Australia and worldwide. Thanks to Zoom and email, distance is never an issue.
